Children are seen by appointment only.  Well exams are usually scheduled in advance so that a certain number of appointment times may be left for sick visits.  If your child is sick and needs to be seen, you may call during regular office hours to schedule an appointment.  We make every effort to see ill children the same day, especially when you call early in the day.

        Welcome to the practice!  Dr. Rachesky and Dr Forrester want you to know that your child’s physical and emotional health is our most important goal.  In an effort to help you understand how our practice works, we are providing the following information.  We hope that this will help you and us to work together in a partnership in caring for your child.


If your child is ill, and the office is closed, you have several options.  If you feel your child can wait until the next morning, do so and call the office as soon as possible the following morning.  If you feel that the problem is severe enough that you need help in managing your child until he or she can be seen, you can reach the nurse/doctor on call by calling our office and speaking with the on call nurse or leaving a message for her to return your call.  REMEMBER TO DISABLE CALL BLOCK ON YOUR PHONE.


We share call with several other pediatricians in Panama City.  If you call the office after regular office hours, the on call nurse will contact the doctor on call.  Calls to the on call nurse/doctor are grouped together.  The nurse is called about every hour.  This allows us time for meals, call backs, etc.

If you feel you have a true emergency, please let the on call nurse know.  If your call is not returned within 1 to 1 ½ hours, please call back and verify that we have the correct number.  DO NOT ASK FOR PRESCRIPTIONS OR REFILLS OR APPOINTMENT CHANGES.  These are not handled outside of regular office hours.


If you have an emergency and are unable to reach one of the on call nurse/doctors, and feel that you must take your child to the emergency room, we prefer that you take your child to a hospital based Emergency Room and not a free standing walk-in clinic.


If your child becomes ill on a weekend, call our office at 769 -1481.

During normal office hours if you have general questions, or are unsure if your child needs to be seen in the office, your call to the office will be referred to one of the nurses.  The nurses can answer most questions or, if necessary, they will talk with one of us.  All of your questions and the nurses’ answers are reviewed.  Sometimes, we may have to call you back later.  If we have an information sheet to help you deal with a particular problem, you may come by during office hours to pick one up.


We try to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive pediatric care available.  We believe that the parents are an integral part of this process.  You will receive, throughout your child’s care here, several questionnaires to complete.  These are an important part of your child’s medical care.  They provide valuable information and help us to identify potential problems early.  We appreciate your effort, time, and patience while completing these questionnaires.


Our goal is to see children as soon as possible.  This means we try to see sick children in the same day you call (if you call early enough).  While we leave open spots in the schedule for the same day visits, it is not an exact estimate.  Occasionally, especially during busy winter months, on Monday morning, and Friday, we get swamped!  This may result in a longer waiting time for you.  If this occurs, please double check with the nurses to see if there are any questionnaires to fill out or tests we can perform during your wait to help your visit go smoother.  Please feel free to ask questions.  We will try to keep you informed why we have a delay (i.e. emergency at hospital, unexpected absence or illness of staff members, etc.) and when you can expect your child to be seen.  Also note, your child may not be brought back in the same order you signed in.  Children are brought back in order of the scheduled appointment.  Dr. Rachesky and Dr Forrester see patients, so there will be more than one patient in a time slot.  In addition, children with emergencies may be worked in earlier (fortunately this rarely happens).


Payment is expected when services are rendered.  Patients with required co-pays must be prepared to pay upon check-in. There is a $25.00 charge for any missed appointment, so please call the office in advance if you need to change or cancel an appointment time.  This office accepts and will file the following:  Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tricare Standard, Aetna, and United Health Care. Please contact the office for further insurance questions.  Patients are still responsible for their share of the costs.  This office no longer accepts any form of Medicaid HMO such as Prestige, Healthy Kids, and Kids Care etc.


Dr. Rachesky is Board Certified for Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and she is a full Fellow of the America Academy of Pediatrics (F.A.A.P.).
